Richmond's Department of Public Utilities continues to run into problems. DPU Director Scott Morris addressed the city council yesterday. He discussed why fluoride levels in the city's drinking water supply spiked two weeks ago. Morris says a new pump was installed and some valves were not aligned properly. He also says the problem lingered for four days because he wasn't notified. Morris told the council he's working on ways for the DPU to communicate better.
As Virginians switch over to REAL IDs , scammerss are trying to take full advantage of the rush before the deadline.Preview: A North Carolina man is being accused of staging a fall off a ledge in southwest Virginia. The Patrick County Sheriff's Office began investigating Nathaniel Clendenin after a 911 call on April 28th. First responders found Clendenin in a remote area of Fairy Stone State Park and had to use a basket to rescue him from the side of the ledge. Clendenin reportedly admitted to investigators that he didn't actually fall, and the sheriff's office said he has a history of false 911 calls in North Carolina. Charges against Clendenin are pending.
It's National Teacher Appreciation Day. In addition, it's also National Nurses Day, marking the first day of National Nurses Week. The week ends May 12th on the birthday of the late Florence Nightingale who was widely recognized as the founder of modern nursing.
