The city of Alexandria is inviting the public to a virtual meeting to discuss airplane noise. The city is working on a project to discover the worst spots for airplane noise so it can recommend flight pattern changes to the FAA. A consultant is working with the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority as part of the project. The meeting will be held next Thursday at 6 p.m., and a link is available on the city's website.

The next few days will be really hot, and a Henrico Fire official has some advice. The National Weather Service is expecting temperatures to be in the high 90s tomorrow and Sunday. Battalion Chief Doug Reynolds says to stay properly hydrated, you need to drink at least a gallon of water a day. He also says there are warning signs that you need to get out of the heat immediately. Reynolds says the first sign is heat cramps, the second is heat exhaustion where you sweat profusely, become nauseous and lightheaded, and the last stage is you've stopped sweating. He tells 8News once you start to notice you're having an issue, get inside and try to cool down.  
 
 
The National Archives plans to put the Emancipation Proclamation on permanent display beginning in 2026. The archive announced last year that the proclamation would go on display but did not specify a date.
