Virginia Senator Tim Kaine will not be present when Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu addresses Congress later today. The Virginia Democrat released a statement saying he had a previous commitment in Virginia and would not be attending. Kaine added that Netanyahu needed to update lawmakers on progress toward a ceasefire in Gaza as well as the release of hostages held by Hamas. He also hopes the prime minister will talk about allowing more humanitarian aid into Gaza.
Virginia is being connected to a suspected listeria outbreak in the United States.Preview: The co-founder of Fairfax-based Custom Ink is stepping down as the company's CEO. The company announced this week that Marc Katz will turn that job over to David Doctorow next month. Doctorow is the former CEO of Move, Incorporated, the parent company of Realtor-dot-com. Katz will remain as Custom Ink's chairman of the board. Katz said in a statement that he has confidence Doctorow will take the company to new heights as Custom Ink focuses on its digital roots.
Several members of the Fairfax County Police Department are on their way to Paris to help with security for the Summer Olympics. The department is one of four in the U.S. that have been asked to provide officers to help with public safety during the event. Twelve officers and an explosives-trained police dog will help the French National Police until the games wrap up next month. The Games will officially kick off with the opening ceremony on Friday.
