A woman suing Richmond Public Schools is going through hell. That's what Tameeka Jackson-Smith's lawyer said yesterday while discussing her case. She filed two wrongful death lawsuits in federal court after her 18-year-old son and husband were shot to death last year after the Huguenot High School graduation ceremony at the Altria Theater. Attorney Brian Telfair says the district knew Jackson-Smith's son had been threatened, and officials allowed him into the ceremony anyway. Jackson-Smith is seeking 26 million dollars in damages, but her lawyers say she's open to a settlement.
