Hundreds of Richmond students are getting an extra-long break. Superintendent Jason Kamras announced yesterday that Cardinal Elementary School will be closed all week after it was struck by lightning Monday night. The building sustained fire and water damage, and crews were there yesterday to begin cleanup efforts. Kamras says classes will resume Tuesday. In the meantime, breakfast and lunch can be picked up at the school today and tomorrow. Also, the Cardinal Strong Fund has been established to raise money for students, teachers and families. You can donate at RPS-Education-Foundation-dot-Network-For-Good-dot-com.

Early voting starts next month in Virginia, Minnesota, South Dakota, Vermont, Illinois and the swing state of Pennsylvania. In October, residents in nine more states, including swing states Arizona and Ohio, can start to vote. Nearly every early voting state offers mail-in or vote in-person options.
