A private college in Virginia has adopted a new admissions policy that will ban transgender applicants. Sweet Briar College is a private women's college located in Amherst County. The school now requires all applicants to confirm that their sex assigned at birth was female. Officials say the new policy is based on founding documents that established the college as a place for the education of girls and young women. Critics have pointed out that the founding documents also required an all-white admissions policy, something that was overturned in court in the 1960s.  
 
 
The presidential election is generating lots of interest, but the NAACP is trying to drum up interest in local races, too. The NAACP Richmond Branch and VCU NAACP hosted a forum yesterday for candidates for mayor, city council and school board. VCU NAACP President Anesia Lawson helped organize the event. Lawson tells CBS 6 these are the candidates that can directly help your family, your friends and the community overall on a day-to-day basis.
