They announced yesterday Officer Evan O'Dell died Wednesday of an aggressive form of brain cancer. O"Dell had been with the force since 2011, and he became a School Resource Officer at Freeman High School in 2016. There's a new leader for Chesterfield County Public Schools. The school board yesterday appointed Dr. John Murray as superintendent, effective today. The vote was unanimous. School Board Chair Ann Coker says after a nationwide search, no one even came close to Murray. He has been serving as interim superintendent since September, and Coker says he has brought tremendous energy and positive momentum to move our school division forward.
A father and son from Chesterfield County will try to show they're the best pinball wizards in the state. Dale Schiltz and his 13-year-old son, Stoller, will compete this weekend in the Virginia State Pinball Championship in Fairfax County. Stoller is an 8th grader at Robious Middle School, and he's seeded 21st in the tournament. Dale is seeded slightly lower at 24, but he's just glad he'll get the opportunity to compete with his son. He tells 8News he couldn't be prouder.
