The weather is disrupting plans some Trump supporters had for today's inauguration. Hanover County Supervisor Ryan Hudson left for Washington, DC on Saturday. He had plans to attend a ball, a rally and the inauguration, but the inauguration was moved indoors due to the cold. Hudson will leave DC this morning and watch the ceremony from home. Some are doing the opposite. Three women plan to take a charter bus this morning from Short Pump to DC. While they can't attend the inauguration, they plan to tailgate at RFK Stadium and watch the ceremony on projector screens. The women tell 12 On Your Side since planning this in November, it has kind of gotten a little bigger than life, and it's now shaping up to be the most awesome tailgate ever.
President Joe Biden has given a prominent Virginia politician a pardon for a prior drug conviction.Preview: Dozens of preservation projects are getting state funding ahead of the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence. Governor Youngkin announced nearly 20-million dollars in funding for 35 projects on Friday. The money comes from the Virginia 250 Preservation Fund, which supports improvement projects at sites expected to see increased visitation in 2026. Many of the funded projects are designed to increase accessibility at the historic sites.
Today is a "fee free" day at National Park Service sites in celebration of Martin Luther King Junior Day. That means all National Park Service sites will be free to visit. The next free admission day is April 19th -- the first day of the National Park Week.
