A nurse accused of hurting a child is undergoing a mental health evaluation. Henrico Doctors' Hospital NICU Nurse Erin Strotman was supposed to have a bond hearing yesterday, but it was postponed. The judge said he wants to wait for the results of a mental health evaluation of Strotman. She was arrested after a five-month-old baby in her care suffered bone fractures two months ago. Strotman is facing charges that include child abuse and malicious wounding. The judge set her next hearing for February 11th.

The Cardinal News reports she advocated for accessible high school education for Black students in Roanoke, leading to the naming of Lucy Addison High School in 1928. The school district plans to open the Booker T. Washington Community Empowerment and Education Center in the old RCPS Central Office, where the proposed marker would be located. The city council unanimously approved the application for the marker.
