The Virginia Department of Health says two children have died after getting the flu. The agency says one child was between five and 12-years-old, while the other was between 13 and 17-years-old. One child was from eastern Virginia and one was from central Virginia. The Department of Health recommends annual flu shots and recommends keeping kids at home when they are sick.

Virginia's demographic trends are shifting, with Fairfax County and Virginia Beach continuing to lose population due to out-migration. However, 17 localities that previously lost population are now gaining, particularly in the southside and along the Chesapeake Bay. The Cardinal News reports Virginia is now experiencing a demographic surplus, with more people moving in than out, marking a reversal of previous trends. Notably, Danville is seeing population growth for the first time in decades, attributed to an influx of newcomers and a shift towards advanced manufacturing.
