A man is accused of trying to kidnap a woman at a Walmart in Petersburg. Jacob Taylor was arrested yesterday. The 26-year-old allegedly grabbed a woman from behind at the Walmart on South Crater Road, picked her up and began carrying her toward the exit. Petersburg Police found Taylor at a Sheets on Wagner Road where he allegedly shoplifted, and he was taken into custody. Taylor is charged with abduction by force, shoplifting, being drunk in public and assault on law enforcement officers.
Fairfax County police are hoping someone can give them information that can close a nearly 25-year-old murder case. Police began investigating the death of Surinder "Paul" Sharma in April of 2000. Sharma was stabbed to death as he closed a convenience store he owned in Woodlawn. Investigators do not believe robbery was the motive for the crime since valuable items were left behind at the store. Anyone with information is asked to call the police department or make a tip through the Crime Solvers hotline.
