A man is facing charges after allegedly trying to set fire to gas pumps in an attempt to avoid arrest in Fredericksburg. Officers were called to a Sheetz early Friday morning after the suspect reportedly set fire to items in the parking lot. Officers moved toward the suspect and he reportedly ran to a gas pump, pulled out the nozzle and tried to set it on fire. The officers grabbed him to make him drop the nozzle and he was eventually taken into custody. Forty-year-old David Rodriguez faces multiple charges, including arson, vandalism, trespassing and shoplifting.
Investigators are releasing more information about a deadly officer-involved shooting in Fluvanna County. Deputies were called to a home on Gravel Hill Road on Friday after a report of an armed man causing a domestic disturbance. Investigators say the man, 37-year-old Kenneth Foster, Junior, was hiding inside a wall of the home when deputies arrived. He fired at deputies and they returned fire, killing him. Several deputies have been placed on leave while the Virginia State Police investigate the shooting.
