A group offering support to domestic violence victims is keeping alive the memory of a missing Manassas Park woman. A candlelight vigil honoring Mamta Kafle Bhatt and others who have been abused was held at Signal Hill Park last night. Organizers said their goal was to provide information and resources to anyone struggling with domestic violence. Bhatt has been missing since late July and her husband is suspected in her disappearance and possible death.
The 41st annual Roanoke Valley CROP Hunger Walk took place in Downtown Roanoke, with participants from local churches and the community coming together to raise awareness and funds to fight food insecurity. Randy Holden from Feeding Southwest Virginia says it is important to address the issue of food insecurity, with one in five children facing this challenge in the area.
Fifteen congregations in Roanoke came together for the inaugural "Faith and Blue" prayer meeting to address gun violence. The event featured prayers, songs, and testimonies from congregation leaders and law enforcement officials at Williams Memorial Baptist Church. The goal of the campaign is to promote peace and safety in Roanoke and combat violence in the community.
Another successful tattoo fest in the Richmond area is in the books. WTVR reports 200 artists and 75 exhibitors gathered for the three-day event over the weekend for the Richmond Tattoo and Arts Convention in Midlothian. It marked the 36th time for the event. The convention also featured more than a dozen competitions.
