A new report calls online gambling a threat to public health and recommends stricter regulations in Virginia and other states. Medical journal The Lancet published the report by a 22-member public health commission on gambling. The commission says the 24-seven access can prove harmful. The report notes that it isn't just people with gambling disorders who are at risk. While suffering money losses is an obvious effect, the report says online gambling can lead to job loss, domestic violence and even suicidal tendencies.
