A Portsmouth councilman is not going to face charges despite an arrest earlier this week. WAVY reports a judge denied warrants against De'Andre Barnes after he was brought in for an alleged domestic dispute involving his daughter on Deep Creek Boulevard early Tuesday. A police report shows he was trying to stop the girl from taking an iPad to school.
Lynchburg city officials are discussing whether laws should change around gunfire. Friends and family are coming together to give a Chesterfield County woman a heartfelt gift for her favorite holiday. Tracy Demeyer [[duh-MY-er]] suffers from ALS, and she's currently in hospice and may not make it to Christmas this year. She loves Christmas so much that her friend, Ruth Monteiro, says Tracy's home is already decorated for Christmas, but Ruth wants to do more. So, she's asking for volunteers to come together this Saturday to sing carols outside Tracy's house. Monteiro tells 12 On Your Side all are welcome, and you can meet Saturday night at 6:30 at the Collington Community Clubhouse on Collington Drive.
Meta will face trial in an antitrust case brought by the FTC over its acquisitions of Instagram and WhatsApp. A federal judge issued an order denying the Mark Zuckerberg-led company's request to drop the case. The FTC sued Meta in 2020, accusing the social media giant of having an illegal monopoly on social networking.
