It's ten years behind bars for a Maryland man convicted of trafficking fentanyl in Northern Virginia. Jahrulle Whyte of Anne Arundel County was sentenced on Thursday. Prosecutors say the 29-year-old sold a small batch of pills to undercover Fairfax County cops last fall, then set up another deal two weeks later where Whyte agreed to sell the cops 15-thousand fentanyl pills. He was arrested during that meeting and was found with an extra two-thousand pills.

Before you put up the Christmas lights, you may want to hear what a Henrico Fire official has to say. Battalion Chief Doug Reynolds has some tips to make sure your house is safe for the holiday season. He says to throw out any bad bulbs or frayed cables. Also, make sure any new bulbs you buy have the 'UL' label so you know they have passed safety tests. Reynolds also suggests using battery-powered candles because the real candles are the cause of about half of all fires during the holidays. He also prefers fake trees, and if you have a real one, make sure it has enough water. Reynolds says the most important thing, though, is to have a working smoke alarm. He tells 12 On Your Side if you don't have one, most fire departments will give you one and even install it for you.
