Dinwiddie County's Commonwealth's Attorney is seeking to essentially drop the charges against two Henrico Sheriff's Deputies, Kaiyell Sanders and Brandon Rodgers, who are charged with manslaughter in the death of Irvo Otieno. The Henrico Citizen reports Otieno died last year while in custody at Central State Hospital after being transported from the Henrico County Jail during a mental health crisis. The move to Nolle prosequi the charges means they could potentially be revisited in the future.  
 
 
Boeing machinists will be voting today on a new contract offer that could end weeks-long strike. Andre Johnstone, who works at the Renton factory near Seattle, says he still wants leaders of the union representing the machinists to do more.

The International Association of Machinists, which represents about 33-thousand workers, has endorsed a tentative deal that would offer 38 percent wage raises over four years. Union members, however, also want their pension plan to return - something the new offer does not include.  
 
 
A local woman is touched by the support she's getting in the fight of her life. Victoria Kokal [[KO-kull]] was diagnosed this summer with brain cancer, glioblastoma. The 35-year-old spoke yesterday before the Virginia Brain Tumor Walk and Run 5K in Richmond. She says supporting brain cancer research is going to help make it so her parents don't have to bury their daughter. Kokal tells 8News she raised over 38-thousand dollars yesterday. Event organizers say they raised over 145-thousand dollars in total.  
 
 
The National Park Service has reopened another 16 miles of the Blue Ridge Parkway. The park service reopened the roadway between milepost 201 near Fancy Gap to just past milepost 217 at North Carolina Route 18 on Friday. The reopening means the parkway is completely open from the Virginia-North Carolina border to the edge of Shenandoah National Park. The park service is reminding hikers that trail assessments are not complete and some hazards from landslides and washouts may still be present.
