A couple in Bedford County is planting 8,500 seedlings on their 225-acre property to create a forest reminiscent of the area 175 years ago. The project, part of the Conservation Reserve Enhancement Program, aims to improve soil conservation, water quality, wildlife habitat, and provide recreational opportunities. WDBJ reports the fast-growing trees planted will soon transform the landscape into a baby forest. The project involved coordination between six federal, state, and local agencies and took a year and a half to plan and finance. Those interested in conservation programs can contact their local USDA office or Soil and Water Conservation District.

A Wythe County dairy is investing $895-thousand dollars to add a production line of churned butter alongside its current line of bottled milk. Governor Glen Youngkin says Duchess Dairy already produces about 7,000 gallons of milk each week, which is sold in grocery stores across Southern and Southwest Virginia. Dairy President James Huffard III will be awarded a $25-thousand dollar state agriculture grant, which will be matched by Wythe County and the town of Rural Retreat.

A unique Christmas parade will be held in Richmond tomorrow night. It's time for the Richmond Boat Parade of Lights, which features 20 fully decked-out boats on the James River. The Lilly Pad serves as host for the event. It will end at Osborne Park and Boat Landing In Varina.
