Magnum Economics conducted a study and found that the Elizabeth River Trail in Norfolk has contributed $18.7 million to the city's economy, creating over 150 jobs and generating $600,000 in annual taxes. The trail also produced $2.2 million in local, state, and federal tax revenues. The study was supported by LISC Hampton Roads, emphasizing the trail's role in fostering healthy and inclusive communities.
A company plans to make history in Chesterfield County. Commonwealth Fusion Systems announced yesterday it plans to build a nuclear fusion energy power plant near Chester. It's expected to become operational in the next decade, and it will be the first commercial nuclear fusion energy power plant in the world. CFS' chief engineer says the plant could produce enough electricity to power over a hundred thousand homes.
A former NFL quarterback and Virginia native is reportedly taking a job to coach Norfolk State's football team. Michael Vick announced on social media last night that he's accepted the head coaching job for the HBCU team, which finished four-and-eight this season. The Spartans play in the Football Championship Subdivision. Vick grew up in Newport News before his stardom sky-rocketed at Virginia Tech and later in the NFL.
