A Virginia landlord is heading to prison for fraud and race-based interference. David Merryman was accused of using race intimidation, refusing to repair property and taking advantage of financial schemes to rip money off of tenants. He owned over 50 properties around the Hampton and Newport News areas. A judge sentenced Merryman to 17-years in prison yesterday.  
 
 
A recount of a Portsmouth city council race won't change the initial outcome. Incumbent De'Andre Barnes requested the recount after voting totals from November 5th showed him 21-votes behind William Dodson. That small difference was out of over 23-thousand ballots. This week's recount actually extended Dodson's margin of victory to 33-votes.  
 
 
Two people are facing charges for a deadly shooting in Richmond. Police announced yesterday that Douglas Harris and Kellie Johnson were arrested for the death of Manchee Edwards, Jr. The 23-year-old was shot to death three months ago on Richmond Highway on the Southside. The 51-year-old Harris and 46-year-old Johnson are charged with first-degree murder. Harris is also charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.  
 
 
A marathon this weekend in Rocky Mount will benefit several abused children in southern Virginia. Katie Gray with more.
