Richmond is returning to normal now that the storm has passed. The city announced yesterday its buildings will operate on a normal schedule today. Those who were able to use one of the city's shelters during the storm are grateful to have escaped the cold and the snow. One man tells 8News he spent the day drinking hot chocolate and counting his blessings.  
 
 
A bill to give Virginia employees paid sick leave is on Governor Youngkin's desk.

A southside Virginia lawmaker who has served in the House of Delegates for 24 years will not be running for re-election. Danny Marshall announced Wednesday that he will not have his name on the ballot in November. The Danville Republican has been a vocal supporter of bringing more jobs and economic development to Pittsylvania and Halifax counties. He thanked his constituents in a statement, saying his goal was always to do what was best for them rather than what was best for his political party.  
 
 
It has happened to many people who were excited to start a new job and federal government workers in central Virginia are now dealing with the situation too. Some IRS employees who were still in their probationary period in Richmond were let go yesterday. There's no word on how many people were laid off. One woman says she had been with the IRS for just six months, and wasn't given a reason for her termination. She tells CBS 6 she's the primary earner for her family, and she's numb and doesn't know what this means for them.
