The parents of a University of Pittsburgh student who went missing in the Dominican Republic say they believe she drowned. The family of 20-year-old Sudiksha Konanki released a statement Tuesday saying they have come to terms with the possibility she drowned off the coast of the Caribbean island during spring break, and are asking for privacy to mourn her death. A massive search was conducted at the Punta Cana resort after the college student disappeared earlier this month.
A federal judge is temporarily blocking the implementation of a transgender military ban. Last month, President Trump signed an executive order banning transgender people from serving in the military. Now, a judge is barring Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth and other military officials from implementing that order. She said her order intends to "maintain the status quo" of military policy. Advocates for the limitation worry that transgender servicemembers are a liability in combat because other non-tolerant countries condone the murder of homosexual individuals and people with gender dysphoria.

First-year student Nicolas Ramos-Estaban died on March 7th. The university's Student Health and Wellness unit says it has worked with the Blue Ridge Health District to identify and treat those who were in close contact with the student. A memorial for Ramos-Esteban will be held on the UVA campus tonight.
