Irvo Otieno's family is accusing a Richmond hospital of contributing to his death. The family recently filed a wrongful death lawsuit against HCA Health Services of Virginia - the company that owns Parham Doctors' Hospital. Otieno was taken to the hospital's Crisis Receiving Center two years ago while undergoing a mental health crisis. From there, he was sent to the Henrico Jail, and three days later he was taken to Central State Hospital in Dinwiddie County where he died. According to the lawsuit, Otieno died as a direct, proximate and foreseeable result of the actions and omissions of HCA Health Services Virginia. Otieno's family is asking for 25 million dollars in damages.
