A man is facing multiple charges after a high-speed pursuit in New Kent County. The chase began Sunday on Interstate 64 when a driver was clocked going 137 miles an hour in an area where the speed limit is 70. Speeds reached over 140 miles an hour before the deputies ended the pursuit. Nineteen-year-old Christopher Carroll was later arrested at a home in Henrico County and charged with felony eluding, reckless driving and driving the wrong way on a highway.

Fresh Start Day Support, a new mental health advocacy business, opened in downtown Suffolk. The business, an extension of Senior First Family Services, had its grand opening on April 4 with Mayor Michael Duman and Councilman John Rector in attendance. Owner Tilfany Brown tells the Suffolk News Herald the group aims to provide care for individuals with disabilities through free community events such as movie nights and painting events, with future plans to open a Center Base in northern Suffolk for those uncomfortable with community outings.  
 
 
It's been more than a decade, but the Ice Bucket Challenge is back. The first viral sensation saw countless people dumping buckets of ice water over their heads to raise awareness for ALS, raising more than 115-million dollars for the ALS Association. This time, though, the challenge is raising awareness for mental health causes. So far, more than 300-thousand dollars has been raised for Active Minds, a youth mental health nonprofit, using the hashtag speak your mind.
