Virginia drivers are being reminded about new laws that went into effect yesterday. The state has eliminated the uninsured motorist fee that allowed drivers to operate vehicles without an insurance policy. All drivers are now required to obtain a policy that meets or exceeds the state's liability limits. The DMV has also eliminated the five-dollar fee for disabled parking placards and made them valid for up to a year. The DMV is also now issuing placards for some farm-use vehicles, replacing the unofficial farm-use tags that could purchased in stores. The 15-dollar placards are good for the life of the vehicle but cannot be transferred to another owner.

A Chesterfield County family has a new home thanks to St. Jude. Nathan Cunningham, his wife and their two kids moved yesterday into their new home they won last week in St. Jude's Dream Home Giveaway. Entries went for 100 dollars a ticket, and St. Jude raised almost one-and-a-half million dollars. The home is 28-hundred square feet, has four bedrooms, three-and-a-half baths and a two-car garage. Nathan tells 12 On Your Side this is a life-changing prize, but it also means thousands of families won the benefit of St. Jude's help.
