Several members of the Virginia Museum of Transportation Board of Directors resigned, citing concerns about the museum's financial management and future sustainability. The six resignations were unexpected and came after months of growing concerns, according to WDBJ. Issues included questions about the use of state grant funds, fiscal controls, and the management of the J Class #611 steam locomotive. The former board members emphasized the need for transparency and accountability in the museum's operations. Current leaders maintain they have acted in the museum's best interests and have provided documents to address the concerns raised.  
 
 
Ferrum Colllege announces plans to form a Women's Flag Football team in 2025 that will play in the inaugural season of the sport. WSLS reports that Conference Carolinas will be the first NCAA Division I or II conference to sponsor women’s flag football and the second NCAA conference to join Division III’s Atlantic East. Inaugural competition will take place in the spring of 2026.  
 
 
The Virginia State Police are urging drivers to be safe as they travel over the July 4th holiday weekend. The superintendent of the state police says he wants this year to be one of the safest ever for Virginia drivers. He encourages drivers to drive sober, avoid distractions, comply with all speed limits and use their seat belts. The state police will put more troopers on the road during the holiday as part of a national crash reduction effort.
