A "do not drink" order issued for parts of Orange County has been lifted. The Virginia Department of Health and the Rapidan Service Authority lifted the advisory yesterday. Customers who get water from the Wilderness treatment plant were told to stop all use last week after reports of a strange taste and odor. That was modified to a "do not drink" order over the weekend.
Henrico County is honoring a woman who has practically adopted a group of firefighters. The Board of Supervisors presented Barbara Chapman with its Distinguished Community Service Medal yesterday. The 81-year-old has been dropping off meals at Firehouse 5 in Lakeside for five years. It all started when firefighters from the station came to her aid after she suffered a diabetic emergency. Chapman wanted to show her thanks, so she started delivering home-cooked meals and treats to them. Firefighters gave her the nickname Mama 305. Lieutenant Travis Bowling says Mama 305 means the world to them, and they're always excited when they see her red car coming up. Chapman tells 12 On Your Side she's never had so many men love her at one time.
NASCAR announced yesterday it's pulling a race from Richmond Raceway and bringing it to Mexico City. Some local race fans tell CBS6 the city businesses will take a hit.Preview: Other fans say they're not surprised. They say crowds have been down in recent years, and the races have lacked excitement. This will leave Richmond with just one race for 2025. It'll be the first time since 1959, other than the pandemic year, that the city will only host one NASCAR race.
A new study from UC San Diego says frequent cannabis use can result in people not showing up for work. The UCSD study says marijuana use leads to people skipping work as well as being too sick to work. Full time employees who used pot frequently saw a one to three times higher chance of missing work.
