Construction has begun on the Fall Line Trail in Richmond, a 13-mile portion of the 43-mile multiuse path planned between Ashland and Petersburg. The groundbreaking ceremony at Bryan Park was attended by city officials and trail supporters but not everyone who showed up was pleased with the trail's planned route. Richmond Biz Sense reports Citizens for a Responsible Fall Line Trail held signs saying “Don’t pave Bryan Park,” “Change the route”, and “No more asphalt.” The project has been years in the making and aims to provide a recreational and transportation corridor for the region.
A northern Virginia family is trying to recover after a fire that destroyed a barn and damaged other buildings and equipment on their farm. A fundraiser has been started for the Trumbo family after the Sunday fire in Catlett, a small community in Fauquier County. No humans were hurt, though 30 lambs died in the fire. The farm has been in the Trumbo family for five generations and the owners say they are struggling with the emotional and financial toll of the fire. Supporters of the family hope to raise 20-thousand dollars through the online fundraiser.
