A child is hurt after getting hit by a car in Henrico County. Henrico Police say a juvenile pedestrian was hit last night on Staples Mill Road near Townhouse Road. The child was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. Police tell 8News the driver remained on the scene and is cooperating. No charges have been announced.

A Henrico County woman is upset that her child's school seemingly lost contact with him. Keisha Jones' son is in kindergarten at Laburnum Elementary School. On Tuesday, the five-year-old somehow was allowed to board the wrong bus at dismissal time, and he wound up at the wrong daycare center. Jones learned something was wrong when her son's normal daycare called her to say he wasn't there. All told, Jones says her son was unaccounted for three hours. She tells 12 On Your Side she's planning to transfer her son to another school.

The opening of a new green space is a huge step in the right direction for Richmond. That's what Parks and Rec Director Chris Frelke [[FRELL-kee]] said yesterday at the ribbon cutting for Midtown Green on West Leigh Street. It used to be the Bon Secours Training Center when it was home to the Washington Commanders training camp. Now, the 15-acre space is available for youth sports, concerts and other events. Frelke tells CBS 6 sometime next year, it'll be the new headquarters for Parks and Rec Department.
