That's what one speaker said yesterday at a meeting at the Chesterfield Career and Technical Center. The Virginia Department of Education held a listening session to get feedback on a new policy restricting cell phone use. Schools are required to comply with the statewide policy by January 1st. One speaker says schools may need mental health professionals to help children who feel anxiety for not having their phones with them. Another attendee tells CBS 6 teachers are going to need protection when they enforce the law by taking away a student's phone.
New relationships between police and residents may be formed thanks to an event in Henrico County. National Night Out was held last night at Dorey Park. Hundreds of people attended. Lynette Hargrove of Speaking Spirit Ministries and Hopegivers USA was there. She says events like this can bridge the community together so people can be connected. One deputy tells 12 On Your Side he loves events like this where he can interact with the community.
