A judge in Loudoun County has delayed a hearing involving the seizure of two dozen animals seized from a Middleburg dog boarding facility. Yesterday's hearing was supposed to determine custody of the dogs and cats seized at the White Columns Animal Training and Boarding Facility last month. Animal control officers say five dead dogs were found on the property and the rest of the animals were being kept in life-threatening conditions. The owner of the property contends she was ill and trusted someone else to care for the animals while she was in the hospital. The next hearing in the case is set for September 6th.

The Virginia Lottery is celebrating a record year for sales and profits. Governor Youngkin announced yesterday that the lottery raked in more than five-point-five-billion dollars in sales during the fiscal year that ended June 30th. That translated into 934-million dollars in profit, another record for the lottery. That money will go back into the state's budget to help fund Virginia's public schools.
