A Norfolk Police Officer has been charged with sexual assault. Officials say a woman reported she had been sexually assaulted by an officer on duty this week. Police have arrested 44-year-old Herman W. Martin in relation to the case. He was booked into Norfolk City Jail but later released on bond. Norfolk Police Chief Mark Talbot released a statement saying his department was deeply disappointed by the allegations and they hold their officers to the highest standards. Martin is currently on administrative duty while the case is investigated.

VDOT says drivers should be aware of more deer on the roads right now, which could cause more accidents. Officials say to be especially cautious at dawn and dusk when deer are more likely to be out on roadsides foraging. Deer are also more active in the fall from mid-October through November. VDOT says if you do see a deer while on the road, don't swerve to avoid hitting it as you could lose control of your car. And be extra alert when driving near streams and rivers. VDOT says last year, 42 percent of car crashes involving deer happened in October and November.
