Two election officials from a rural Virginia city have filed a lawsuit against the state stating they will not certify results of the 2024 election. The two Republican officials, election board chair Curtis Lilly and vice chair Scott Mares, say they do not have access to votes tallied by voting machines therefore they can't verify results. They state they will not certify the results unless they are able to hand-count the ballots. They also allege the system violates a provision of the state Constitution. This summer, Governor Youngkin filed an executive order mandating voting machines be tested before every election.
