A grand jury has added new charges for a Fairfax County man already indicted for allegedly killing his wife and another man last year. Rebecca Hughes reports.Preview: Police in Virginia Beach say they've arrested a man for shooting his neighbor's dog in the mouth. Forty-four year-old Sokim Om was arrested yesterday after trying to enter his neighbor's home on Garden Grove Court. He fired a bullet through the front door of the home and hit the homeowner's German Shepherd in the mouth. Om then retreated to his own home and authorities arrested him after an hours-long standoff. Police say Om is facing felony animal cruelty, felony destruction of property and shooting into an occupied dwelling charges. Neighbors say they believe Om is mentally ill.
A Virginia man has died after a bear fell on him from a tree. It happened on Monday, December 9th in Lunenburg County. The Department of Wildlife Resources says a group of hunters followed a bear that had run up a tree. One of the hunters shot the bear, and the bear fell and hit 58-year-old Lester C. Harvey. Harvey was standing about ten feet from the bottom of the tree. He was transported to VCR Medical Center but later died of his injuries. Harvey was from the town of Phenix in Charlotte County and was described as an avid outdoorsman. His funeral will be held Thursday at Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church.
