Petersburg's animal shelter says it's at capacity. The shelter is operated by Petersburg Animal Care and Control and posted on Facebook yesterday saying they had several dogs looking for their forever homes. Staff at the shelter are asking for anyone able to, to foster or adopt one of their many dogs.

Virginia judges will soon have the authority to order reckless drivers convicted of driving over 100 miles per hour to install speed-limiting technology in their vehicles. The Intelligent Speed Assistance Program, introduced by Arlington Del. Patrick Hope, allows judges to require convicted reckless drivers to install speed-limiting technology as an alternative to license suspension. WTOP reports that the technology, which uses smart GPS technology to monitor and limit a vehicle's speed, will be installed at the driver's expense. Drivers who attempt to tamper with the device could face misdemeanor charges. The bill will go into effect on July 1, 2026.
