Governor Glenn Youngkin announced that the Town of Pulaski will receive $700,000 in grant funds from the Appalachian Regional Commission for the expansion of the Calfee Community and Cultural Center. The ARC program, established in 1965, aims to help the region achieve economic parity with the rest of the nation. The grants support projects that bring jobs and prosperity to Appalachian communities while preserving their unique character. Secretary of Commerce and Trade Caren Merrick tells WJHL its a top priority to invest in targeted projects to ensure that Appalachian regions and residents are not left behind. DHCD Director Bryan Horn highlighted the role of ARC funding in transforming underserved communities while preserving the region's history and assets.  
 
The Virginia Department of Health has issued a fish consumption advisory in Mecklenburg County. Rocio Rivera has more.

A woman is accused of lying to police about a kidnapping in Petersburg. Police said yesterday Shania Hall reported last week that she was robbed and kidnapped on South Crater Road. That led to a police chase with a car that wound up crashing. Officers say they found Hall driving the car and arrested her. The 20-year-old is facing charges that include obstruction of justice and stolen firearm possession
