A federal grand jury has indicted two dozen suspects in connection with a scheme to obtain federal Paycheck Protection Program loans. The indictments announced in Roanoke yesterday charge 24 defendants with wire fraud, money laundering, conspiracy and making false statements to investigators. The scheme allegedly took place between June of 2020 and May of 2021 and involved more than one-point-five-million dollars in benefits. Some of the suspects are also accused of applying for unemployment benefits while they were applying for Paycheck Protection loans.  
 
A new Virginia initiative is helping some inmates shave time off their sentencings.

City officials in Norfolk aiming to tackle minority mental health. Councilwoman Danica Royster is leading efforts by first focusing on breaking stigmas surrounding mental health. A community chat event called 'Surviving Through Mental Health' set to feature experts, teens, and advocates on Thursday at the Attucks Theatre.
