Appalachian Power has issued a warning for boaters and recreational users planning to be on the New and Roanoke rivers in Virginia. Water levels downstream of Claytor and Leesville dams could rise rapidly due to increased power generation to meet rising demand for electricity during hot weather. The potential increase in water levels poses a risk to those on the rivers, with levels below Leesville Dam possibly rising up to eight feet over a seven-hour period. AEP tells WDBJ its recommending to keep an eye on their website and local Facebook pages for updates as they decide whether to increase power generation.
An upcoming Senate debate for Virginia candidate is over before it starts.
