Fairfax County is switching to a new method of answering non-emergency calls. The county's Department of Public Safety Communications will use artificial intelligence to answer calls that do not require immediate attention from a human dispatcher. The department has answered over 500-thousand non-emergency calls so far this year, and officials say they have to find a way to deal with the rising call volume while making emergency calls a priority. The county hopes the new system will prevent long wait times for callers reporting issues like noise complaints and trespassing.

Small business owner Naomi Carter of E & N Soaps and More in Fairlawn has seen a surge in popularity after her soap-making videos went viral on social media.
